The Rice Raiser 2007
February 12 – March 5, 2007
The Rice Raiser is a youth-mobilized community event designed to feed the hungry both in our own community and in developing countries at the same time.
This year, the funds that are raised will be used to purchase rice and other staples in four different regions: Indonesia, Honduras, Zambia and Haiti. Rice is also collected to provide to the local Food Bank.
Many local schools and businesses are supporting this event, and it would be great if children and parents might encourage their school to get involved. We would also like to challenge our church to get involved as well.
You can find out more about the Rice Raiser at their website www.riceraiser.org or call 604-308-1391. Please consider how you might like to get involved, either as individuals or as groups.
The Rice Raiser is an initiative of Hunger Response International, in partnership globally with Hungry for Life International, Mennonite Central Committee British Columbia, and CAUSE Canada; locally with Abbotsford Community Services, Salvation Army Care and Share, Chilliwack, and the Canadian Association of Food Banks, BC Branch.
