The Rice Raiser
The Rice Raiser is a youth-mobilized community event designed to feed the hungry both in our own community and in developing countries at the same time.
Globally, over 800 million people suffer hunger. A child dies every five seconds due to hunger related causes. Recently, natural disasters have added to the need for emergency food aid. The needs are great, but the truth is, we have the capacity to grow and provide food for every person.
Through the Rice Raiser, school aged children collect packaged bags of rice and cash donations at the same time. Businesses and corporations are encouraged to support the Rice Raiser by inviting their employees to collect rice and then they match the kilograms collected with cash.
The bags of rice are distributed to those in need through our local food bank. The money is sent through reputable charitable organizations to purchase food to feed people in developing countries.
